_southstart has announced the first round of speakers for its two-day, multi-track technology conference taking place at the Adelaide Convention Centre on 20 – 21 November.
Local and international experts will converge in Adelaide to discuss space, artificial intelligence, social enterprise, creative industries, blockchain and other technologies set to explode and redefine our future.
Leading the lineup is Devin Mancuso, Designer at Google. Mancuso focuses on design strategy to shape the future of products and services for billions of users across the globe. Making his way from San Francisco for _southstart [conference], he’ll explore the phenomenon of ‘Virtual Beings’ as digital influencers and the increasing role they play across social platforms.
Joining Mancuso on the conference program is leading Israeli tech journalist and startup ecosystem expert Inbal Orpaz. Founder of the “#WomanInTech” initiative to promote women in high-tech and a researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), Orpaz will explain what we can learn from “the startup nation” of Israel about building a startup ecosystem – and why it’s very much like cooking a recipe.
CEO and Head Designer at Canaria, Alex Moss will explore the intersection between fine art and science, while General Partner at Blackbird, Nick Crocker, will walk audiences through the past, present and future of Australian startups.
Also speaking will be Dr. Sarah Pearson, Chief Innovation Officer and Chief Scientist at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mark Reading, Head of Foundation at Atlassian; and Michael Masterson, Managing Director – Australia & New Zealand at EverEdge Global. Chairman at Power Ledger Jemma Green and BKindred Founder Penny Locaso will also present at the conference.
“_southstart is full of very interesting & clever people. Great minds get to expand their thoughts. I look forward to seeing/hearing [further additions to this] year’s selection” said Chester Osborn, Chief Winemaker & Viticulturist at iconic South Australian winery d’Arenberg, who will discuss the “Experience Economy” through the lens of his 15-year ‘dream in the making’, the d’Arenberg Cube.
