Two women from the Women in Business Regional Network were among the recipients of awards last month from SA Woman Australia.
Network founder Carolyn Jeffrey took out the Community Award while our Keith member, Robyn Verrall from Bully’s Meats, was named Member of the Year.
The community award recognises a business woman who has provided support and opportunities for women in business through the staging of events and training while Member of the Year seeks to give recognition to a member who has provided support to other women in business and who epitomises the aims and objectives of SA Woman.
A capacity crowd of 200 were on hand at the Stamford Grand at Glenelg for the presentation.
In receiving the Community Award Carolyn said she felt honoured and privileged as “few people start a business or an organisation with the aim of getting an award, but it is a delightful bonus to receive such an accolade”.
“I started the network just over two years ago out of a desire to assist businesswomen in the regions to overcome isolation through networking, access to practical and cost-effective training opportunities, support and to play an advocacy role with the aim of providing them with a voice and nurturing the voice within each of them.
“Over the past two years I’ve travelled thousands of kilometres, sacrificed time and money to build the network as watching women grow and support one another gives me such a boost that money would never be able to buy.”
Carolyn praised the organisers, SA Woman Australia, for the very professional awards judging process which also included a People’s Choice section chosen by public voting.
