Introducing Lydia Kalleske, the founder of forABELphotography in the Barossa Valley of South Australia.
What does your business do or offer? forABELphotography offers family and business lifestyle and luxe experience photography sessions.
What’s the best business advice you’ve ever been given? Stay in your lane, no one is you and that is your superpower!
What is one important lesson you’ve learned in business? Run your business from a heart-led and soul-led place and that will see you through the tougher years.
Tell us a fact about you that most people wouldn’t know: I trained for 6 months in order to ride my pushbike to the Sunshine Coast in Queensland from the Barossa Valley in South Australia, to help raise much-needed funds for my niece who has a rare genetic disorder!
What did you do before becoming a woman in business? I had many and varied jobs including, vocal instructor, vintage casual, sportswear sales, cellar-door, school cleaner, hotel cleaner, vineyard hand, to finally an admin assistant. I hated the daily grind. I started forABELphotography as I needed a way to express myself creatively. When I left my job I knew I would never be employed by someone else again!
What are your interests, or what do you do to maintain a work/life balance? When I’m not working, you will find me camping fishing, gardening, singing and at trivia on a Wednesday night at the Greenock Tavern!
What made you join the network? After being a part of two other “women in business” groups, I have realised how valuable both in my business and personal life it is to be surrounded by women, who on the most part are just like you!
