With the quality of internet services, or the lack of availability being identified among the top challenges facing women in business in regional areas the network is excited to announce it has secured a partnership with nbn™ local.
Network founder Carolyn Jeffrey met officials from nbn™ local recently at a Regional Australia Institute conference in Adelaide and mentioned issues network members had spoken about and the impact a lack of quality internet services was having on their businesses.
“It was interesting to find out that although we have received complaints from within our membership about internet connections, it appears there may be much we don’t know about what’s available from nbn™, particularly for businesses, and also for those businesses which can’t be connected to traditional services,” Carolyn said.
“Through the partnership our members will not only be able to provide feedback directly to senior nbn™ local representatives when they attend our functions, but there will be regular information posts within our newsletters and distributed to members to keep them up to date with internet opportunities.”
As part of the partnership arrangement, women in regional areas are also encouraged to share their stories about success from connecting to the nbn™.
“We’re looking for members and supporters to come forward and tell us about their internet success stories and to also have the opportunity to promote their business at the same time,” Carolyn said.
“The nbn™ is a national project, so imagine the opportunity to get your business out onto the national stage by telling your nbn™ success story.”
nbn™ local will also be among the sponsors of the network’s Christmas dinner being held at McCracken Conference Centre in Victor Harbor on Friday, December 6.
“This is the first of what I hope will be a number of corporate partners to join with the network in assisting women in business in regional areas,” Carolyn said.
“We are looking forward to being part of a roundtable event with government officials and economic development interests at Strathalbyn next week to discuss internet services and the nbn™.”
Watch out on the program for details about when the nbn™ local will be presenting to your local chapter.
