Members of the Women in Business Regional Network donned their fascinators and finery to support member Olivia Knott and her small committee in raising funds for the Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Beach House project.
The table of network members joined more than 100 people at Eat @ Whalers for the annual Oaks Day lunch and fundraising auction which this year netted over $11,500.
Olivia said the event was put together in a matter of weeks and she was overwhelmed and very grateful for the support the small committee received.
The Oaks Day lunch was the second held at Eat @ Whalers and included a charity auction.
Olivia said this year’s result eclipsed the $7500 raised at the inaugural event.
Work is well underway on construction of the Beach House in Central Drive, Encounter Lakes. It will provide a home away from home for families who have a child suffering a challenging illness.
Olivia said the local community had pledged to raise $20,000 towards the project and to date we had “smashed it”.
Fundraisers have included:
- A tractor run by Rod Lovell that raised $4000;
- A Mother’s Day event organised by Clara Venuti which made $9000; and
- A cubby house raffle by Harcourts South Coast that netted $2000.
The committee has offered sincere thanks to the sponsors including: Coastal Landscapes and Fencing, South Coast Realty, Harcourts South Coast, JaDs Hairdressers, Hotel Victor, Bodywork Massage & Wellness, Fleurieu & Hills Insurance, Vodafone Australia, Coomunga House – Cafe on Railway, LJ Hooker Victor Harbor, Notable Imprint, The Fudge Fairy, Hopscotch Wealth, Eat at Whalers, Just Leased, Rydges Hotels & Resorts, Specsavers Victor Harbor, Waitpinga Farm Quad Bike Adventures, Marilyn Henderson, The Office Shop Victor Harbor, Paxton Wines, Jetty Food Store, See Optometry, Rebekha Sharkie MP, Harbor Chocolate, One Rundle Trading Co, Victor Harbor Betta Home Living, Rileys Of Eden Valley, Barry Hills, Nankivell Conveyancing, Hamper Warehouse, The Big Duck Boat Tours, City of Victor Harbor, Charlesworth Nuts, Adelaide Festival Centre, Indy Rose Flowers, Fleurieu Podiatry – Andy Chan, skinOptics and David Basham – Member for Finniss.
