Toastmasters coming to Victor

Victor Harbor’s Kita Scott has a vision, to help women in the Victor Harbor area become more competent and confident speakers and communicators.

Kita, a foundation member of the Women in Business Regional Network, has received approval from the Aldinga Toastmasters Club to set up a Victor Harbor club.  The Aldinga branch has also provided some seed funding.

Network members from Victor Harbor and Strathalbyn were recently treated to presentations by Kita as part of our effective networking sessions.

At those functions Kita outlined her vision to bring Toastmasters International to Victor Harbor.

What is “Toastmasters International”? Toastmasters International is a USA headquartered non-profit educational organisation that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of helping and supporting members improve their communication, public speaking, and leadership skills.

Who benefits? Everyone involved with Toastmasters benefits by learning to have the skills and confidence to run meetings, speak spontaneously, prepare short 5-7 minute speeches having their speeches evaluated by supporting members of the club.

The new Pathways program offers Toastmasters a new education program.  Pathways is designed to help you build competencies you need to communicate and lead.  It is an exciting, flexible and interactive way to develop your skills and help others in your club develop theirs.  Pathways helps you learn communication and leadership skills.

Meetings run fortnightly for a maximum of two hours.

More information will be provided as the club’s establishment progresses.
