Most of us enjoy a massage, but those with horses may not have considered the benefits of this type of treatment for their animals. That’s where Mandy Smith of Unicorn Equine Services in Lower Inman Valley can help.
Not only does she provide agistment services, but is now offering soft tissue therapy for horses.

What does your business do? Offers a range of Equine Services – agistment – specialising in “spelling” type agistment for retired horses and youngsters growing up before their riding careers start. Now also offering Equine Myofunctional Therapy – a soft tissue therapy for horses.
Just as a quality massage program has proven to be an important part of a human athlete’s routine to allow best performance, so too is a quality massage program – Equine Myofunctional Therapy (EMT) – for your horse. Maybe even more so, as not only does your horse need to have a strong musculature system to enable his own correct movement – but he also has to develop a strong musculature system to enable him to carry his rider effectively. Although a horse’s back is very convenient for us to sit on, horses were not designed to carry a rider on top, but rather, all their internal organs, including an extensive digestive system, below. This is just one of the reasons a tailored EMT program is so important to your horse – from the weekend recreational ride, to the high level performance horse, allowing them to perform to their optimal ability with their full range of movement.
Focusing on your horse’s welfare and ensuring that your time together is comfortable and pain free for your horse results in a much-enhanced relationship, as you are no longer associated with pain (mild to severe…) which often also presents as behavioural and training issue
In support of the EMT program I am also offering a fun Equine Pilates program – enabling the rider to build on strengthening their horses core – while also creating a deeper rapport.
Happy Horse, Happy Rider, Happy Life!
