Name: Taneil Nigro
Role: Optical Assistant
Business/career journey:
• Started working as Optical Assistant in 2015
• Have taken on extra roles such as designing new marketing material for 2020
• Took the initiative to grow our ecofriendly impact and put new systems in the workplace to support this
• Have suggested and implemented new sale strategies for our Sunglasses and as a result saw sales grow
• Attended professional development training with Proteus Leadership, grasped important teamwork and time management methods and executed them within the workplace, while sharing with fellow colleagues.
What have I learnt? Networking can make a huge difference to business; building friendships and contacts with people can come in handy when you least expect it. Practice emotional intelligence – while some emotions can be a great driver of motivation and success, others can be damaging if you allow them to drive your decisions without thought or reasoning.
Why am I supporting my business? It seems like a great organisation to network with like minded individuals, and there is always valuable learning to be had when participating in events and seminars like this. Women can be very empowering and supportive when they get together with a common goal.
